The Graceful Dance: Finding Quality Crib Bedding For Your Daughter
Crib bedding is such an integral part of a well-dressed nursery that most parents preparing a room for the arrival of their little girl are right to begin by searching for linens that are safe and, of course, as beautiful as they know she will be. Mothers and fathers who are expecting for the first time will find it helpful to learn a bit about infant bedding before rushing to buy.
Those who take the time to study approved guidelines become aware of the importance of avoiding thick quilts and bumpers, which have long been associated with a risk of suffocation. It is equally imperative that your daughter’s bedding adhere to standard crib and toddler bed dimensions, since poorly sized linens can slip from mattress corners and easily entangle a helpless little one.
Baby girl bedding retailed as part of a coordinated set by a reputable merchant generally meets basic safety requirements; moreover, these linen collections are considered by many to be the most cost effective route to an attractive nursery. Shopping for the right crib set is definitely a fun-filled event, but not without a few challenges that first-time nursery decorators might not have fully anticipated.
The staggering volume of bedding specifically designed for little girls will become increasingly clear after a single online query. All but the most gung-ho shoppers find themselves staring blankly at a computer screen without the faintest idea about how on earth to proceed. Making a list of the colors and styles you consider most appealing will help you begin to narrow the massive field.
Parents whose tastes run to more traditional decor will find a number of baby-safe and thoroughly enchanting bedding sets from which to choose. Toile baby bedding continues to find it way into the nurseries of a large number of very lucky little girls. This graceful and delicate design, which originated in France in the Eighteenth century, infuses a room with a profoundly calm and joyous mood.
In the past decade, toile has been cleverly revamped, and parents have fallen in love with these new takes on a very old favorite. While traditional white and blue toile is still available, decorators might also consider dressing their little girl’s room with more contemporary pairings, including pink and black, or brown and green-just a few of the gorgeous sets that await their inspection.
When expecting a new arrival, be it your first baby or an addition to your family, planning the nursery is going to be a major part of the process. Nursery decor starts with careful planning of the nursery space. Will the baby be rooming with you for the first few months, or will he or she move into a new bedroom? Are there siblings already in the room with their own needs? Many families choose to have a nursery, but also keep the baby in a bassinet or co-sleeper at night, especially if the baby is going to be breastfed. For this arrangement, the baby bedding will be simple: just a flat blanket for the baby to sleep on, with no covers. Remember that babies are best kept warm in a cozy outfit rather than under potentially smothering blankets.

The US Consumer Product Safety Commission is warning consumers about the dangers associated with using 2 million recalled Simplicity drop side cribs. All Simplicity wooden drop side cribs have been recalled. CPSC has recently learned of an additional death which occurred in September 2009 involving a 7-month-old child from Princeton, Kentucky who became entrapped in the crib when a part of the drop side broke. The plastic hardware can break or deform, causing the drop side to detach. When the drop side detaches, it creates a space between the drop side and the crib mattress. Infants and toddlers roll into this space and become entrapped which can lead to suffocation. The recalled Simplicity drop side cribs were sold in department stores, childrens stores, and mass merchandisers nationwide from January 2005 through June 2009 for between 0 and 0. All Simplicity wooden drop side cribs have been recalled, so please check to see if you, or someone you know, have a recalled Simplicity drop side crib. If you do, you should immediately stop using the recalled crib and find an alternative, safe sleep environment for your baby. Consumers should not attempt to fix the crib.
